Geocaching Holidays

Geocaching on holiday is a great way to see the local area.Local geocaches  Geocaching is a real world "treasure hunt" using GPS locations all around the world (even in the International Space Station).  Using the GPS on your phone, or a dedicated unit. you navigate to the location of hidden containers or 'caches'.  Basic membership is free and you can enjoy a geocaching holiday anywhere -there are over two million caches worldwide (and around 250 within 5 miles of Granada!).

Typical Holiday Geocaches

One of the great things about trying a geocaching holiday is that as you search for the caches you are guaranteed to get off the beaten track and see sights you would otherwise not see.  Many caches are placed especially in sites of outstanding natural beauty, or of historic or other note, so there is always something new to see or learn.  All are graded as to ease of access and their size - which may range from nano caches as Example of geocachesmall as twigs, to ones the size of dustbins!  All contain a log book of some form to record your visit - larger caches may contain gifts or moving items called trackables, while multi caches may in themselves form a "trail" between different locations.

Whether you are already a seasoned geocacher , or if you just fancy giving it a go while on holiday, , we are happy to help in any way we can.  There are a great variety of caches in and around Almunecar, which can be found while enjoying our local walks, or while you are cycling.  Further afield our Salobrena Coastal path walk will take you past several more - or tick off the caches in Granada & the Alhambra Palace!.

For all the information you need to get started visit the international Geocaching site.
